People are saying it. Everywhere I look they’re saying it. Can you believe it?
If we were going to consider why people say these things, it might be worth looking at his interactions with self-professed, overt Hitlerites.
Thankfully, Elon spent 44 Billion dollars so he [and they] could do all that openly in public.
Elon Maintains X as a Free Speech Paradise
Now that we’ve established that Elon Musk won’t arbitrarily put his thumb on the scale, let’s look at some conversations and interactions he and his platform’s resident content creators have had.

Recently the group StopAntisemitism put out their nominees for antisemite of the year which included such figures as Nick Fuentes and Ms Rachel.
Absent from these nominees was Stew Peters, a man who, while not nominated for that award, is out there campaigning for it like a Nobel Peace Prize.
In 2024 Stew Peters released the film Occupied which ends with the following title card if you’d like to save yourself an hour and forty-six minutes.
Occupied borrows a great deal of it’s verbiage from similar messaging being put out by the Trump campaign during the 2024 election except in Peters’ case it refers to Jews (predominantly) and in Trump’s case it refers to brown people (primarily).
It’s a big tent.
Stew Peters attracted the ire of the Jewish community on X for some reason, including some who enjoyed his prior Covid conspiracy content.
Henry Katz here got so mad he violated X’s terms of service.
But at least Stew Peters learned the lesson of being softer in his speech.
Peters continued to share memes lying that holocaust deaths are exaggerated.
However he will use the historically accurate death toll when presented with a picture of a Jewish child playing basketball.
In his spare time he enjoys driving ATVs drunk.
Stew Peters did eventually lose his Blue Checkmark for insulting Musk (these HHoes ain’t loyal), but he hasn’t been kicked off the platform because Elon Musk values the free debate of important ideas.
The Overton Window
Here Elon talks about shifting the Overton Window; a concept referring to the sorts of ideas and opinions that are considered societally acceptable to express/discuss in open society. The ideas the average person is willing to consider.
Vivek Ramaswamy cheers him on, followed by Dan Bilzerian, who suggests he’s “kicking the door off it’s hinges” because, well, that’s what these people like to imagine themselves doing.

My going on screenshot safaris of internet hellholes predates Elon’s takeover of Twitter.
When I was on the internet in the early 2000s I was drawn like a moth to a shit-flame to places like StormFront and RaptureReady because listening to nazis and doomsday preppers talk openly was a novel experience at the time. I’ve been spelunking ever since.
In 2021 I stumbled upon a group of right wing trolls on Instagram by friend who was being very tediously vocal about their radicalization. Anyway, here’s that meme again.

Before Elon Musk could get 18m views for this, white fear merchants tilled the content fields of Instagram to meager returns but they did get some people I know.

In 2021 the reach of these memes on Instagram would proliferate at low levels of viewership where content moderators would be ambivalent about removing them until they gained significant popularity to get a high amount of reports.
Now you can have the richest man on earth personally reposting your bile to an audience of millions.

Mr European Nationalist at HookedCross 2024 here was tickled by the statement.
His bio is a sentence known among White Nationalists as “the 14 words” which will come up again later.
And if you want to guess whose feet those are in his profile picture, I would like to say that I was smart enough to find it on the first guess. Go me.

GM Frens is a reference to the subreddit Frenworld (r/frenworld) which was banned for inciting hate speech.
It’s uncertain where the Redditors may have gone after their community was banned.
Antique Dogwhistles
In the now obliterated post-WWII order, when overt Nazism was driven underground (ask your parents), people would communicate their fear of melanin and love of Hitler via codes like 1488, referring to the white nationalist 14 words slogan and 88 meaning HH or “Heil Hitler”

Blaming Whoever You Want For The Holocaust
A lot of AfD’s verbiage that Musk supports involves the idea that Germans should not be ashamed of their past.
However, if you would like to blame others for the Holocaust, particularly people you’re actively waging a campaign against, well, welcome to the free marketplace of ideas.
Above, Merkel asserts Germany’s role as the perpetrator of the Holocaust after Benjamin Netanyahu tried to claim that it was a Palestinian Mufti’s idea planted in Hitler’s head.
The cornerstone of holocaust denialism is to reassign the blame from the actual perpetrators to whichever group you personally dislike. It’s free and easy and you can do it from the toilet while on X.
Here we have a rare example of Elon giving credit to the workforce over management. It happened to coincide with his DOGE campaign against the entire federal workforce.
No wonder they get along.

On January 26, 2026 [Kan]Ye took out a full page ad in The Wall Street Journal to apologize for his past posts on X, citing mental illness and brain damage.
One might think that he’s just covering his ass, but there are people with mental illness and possible brain damage out there, and a flood of the above content that they have to contend with, growing and mainstreamed every day, sent to them by algorithms designed solely for maximum audience capture, to stoke fear, and to strip people of empathy.
Meanwhile, as Ye was publishing his apology, Elon Musk was keeping comedy legal on X.
In conclusion, Elon Musk is an American automobile magnate, a tireless advocate for white South Africans, the creator of a bot that named itself MechaHitler, and a guy who makes rockets for the government.
